Georganiseerd door: Koning Boudewijnstichting, Ateliers van Kunstenaars zonder Grenzen. Wist je dat Rodin ooit een atelier in Brussel heeft gehad? Voor de bouw van het Europees Parlement moest niet alleen het zijne, maar ook vele andere ateliers van artiesten wijken. De vereniging 'Ateliers van Kunstenaars zonder Grenzen' zet zich al jaren in voor dit stukje Brusselse culturele geschiedenis. Tijdens het Belgisch Voorzitterschap organiseren zij in het Informatiebureau voor België van het EP een expo die het Brusselse artiestenbestaan van Rodin belicht. Het gebouw van de Raad van de Europese Unie in Brussel wordt ter gelegenheid van het Belgische EU-voorzitterschap op een originele manier aangekleed. Bekende mode-ontwerpers hebben silhouetten ontworpen met afgedankte kledij uit het depot van Spullenhulp/Petits Riens, een VZW die oude spullen inzamelt ten voordele van sociale projecten. Met dit initiatief wordt het Europese Jaar 2010 voor de strijd tegen armoede en sociale uitsluiting extra belicht. Tentoonstelling en boek - Van federaal werelddistrict tot Europese hoofdstad, 1900-2010

De toppositie van Brussel als politieke wereldstad kwam er niet zonder slag of stoot. Belgische intellectuelen, opinievormers, publicisten en politici die zich voor de internationale en later Europese centrumfunctie van Brussel inzetten, hebben talrijke sporen nagelaten in archieven en andere historische bronnen. Deze bronnen – met 150 reproducties van nooit eerder getoond archiefmateriaal – staan centraal in het boek en de tentoonstelling.

Voorstelling van een stad uit de Europese Unie en van een schrijver uit deze stad. Reeks van zes conferenties waarin een aantal Europese steden (Brussel, Boedapest, Lissabon, Bratislava, Dresden,...) worden voorgesteld vanuit historisch en cultureel oogpunt, naast een schrijver uit elke stad. The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in cooperation with the European Youth Forum and with the support of the European Commission, hosts an EU Youth Conference on youth employment, with the aim to define the future European Youth Employment policy. The Conference will be organised in Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve, and it will bring together around 200 participants from National Youth Councils (NYCs) and Directorates-General for youth from EU. The European Youth Forum has been invited to nominate up to ten youth delegates from Belgium to take part in the Youth Conference. Deadline to apply: 17 August 2010, 01.00 p.m
